Feelin Groovy by Keith Newton

Historically speaking, jazz has and always will be about originality, as well as the intuitive creative spirit that comes from within. From the onset, notable musicians who were filled with a passionate embrace of music set about the business of presenting jazz to the world. In the case of saxophonist Keith Newton's latest release entitled 'Feelin' Groovy!,' originality and passion are very much a part of his own creative spirit that comes from within. What is just as important is the fact that this is the first commercial release for Keith and it has all the ingredients for a high impact perspective on his version of jazz.

'Feelin' Groovy!' is filled with soft low-end grooves and sweet melodic lines of interpretation. Keith's music is energetic and spontaneous. The CD speaks with authority, but it also has the ability to communicate on practically any level of conveyance. Having played the saxophone since the age of 10, Keith has come a long way in the pursuit of his craft. Although he may have been influenced by many of his predecessors, which includes Kenny G, Kirk Whalum and Kenny Garret, Keith's sound is uniquely qualified to be different. As a first timer, Newton has hit the ground running with his own version of what jazz should be about in his own voice. In addition, he even went the extra mile with this effort as well. Keith not only recorded the CD, he also produced and did the leg work to get it out to the listening public.

For the most part, 'Feelin' Groovy!' is a highly eclectic endeavor, one that not only stimulates the soul, it also entertains. With jazz as a backdrop, Keith makes every effort to cross the familiar with the unfamiliar. There are elements of hip-hop rhythms, vocal nuances and smooth lines of harmonic innuendos. Overall, as a solo musician Keith Newton is on a fast-track to success with ten tracks that are filled with his original yet thoughtful jazz message.
