Simple Pleasures by Ramsey Lewis Trio and Nancy Wilson

Living legend Nancy Wilson teems up with Ramsey Lewis and his Trio, creating a soul filled compilation of legendary classics on SIMPLE PLEASURES.

SIMPLE PLEASURESis a natural outgrowth of Lewis and Wilson’s previous hit, MEANT TO BE,which was received with such love, the public demanded more.

SIMPLE PLEASURESis described as "crossing over the line from jazz to pop and R&B, while always keeping integrity, soulfulness and swing intact."

Choosing the songs for this CD was the first step in making SIMPLE PLEASURES come to life. Wilson looked through 30 to 40 songs before she found the five ‘just right’ for this CD. Lewis agrees it is the choice of songs that make a tune come alive. In the liner notes Lewis states, (the repertoire mix) "draws from standards, originals and the pop/R&B field. It’s a nice balance, I think."

Lewis credits the smart horn charts by Llew Matthews for the pleasant blend with Wilson’s voice during the songs IN THE NAME OF LOVE, GIVE ME SOMETHING REAL and Kenny Rankin’s, LOST UP IN LOVING YOU.

Interspersed between Wilson’s sultry ballads, Ramsey Lewis and his Trio keep the listener engaged with their highly crafted interpretation of the top selling songs, IN MY LIFE,originally done by the Beatles, War’s SLIPPIN’ INTO DARKNESS.and ONE TRUE THING.

Both Wilson and Lewis are creative masters whose sounds are legendary.

Each song on this CD is mastered with a sensuous touch of instrumentation, as expected from such masters.

Lewis and Wilson have created another hit with SIMPLE PLEASURES.
