Bix Beiderbecke - Volume One - Singin The Blues by Bix Beiderbecke

This twenty selection CD is a remarkable look at a man who influenced other horn players such as Louis Armstrong. These songs were recorded in the year 1927. What is rare about this collection is that it reveals Beiderbecke was a gifted piano player as well as one of the greatest cornet players in jazz history. Check out the unusual harmony in the song, "In A Mist," recorded on September 9, 1927 and listen to what a gifted pianist Beiderbecke was! He was born Leon Bix Beiderbecke at Davenport, Iowa on March 10, 1903, a son of second generation German immigrants, and after that the rest is jazz history and mythology combined! Other selections in this excellent compilation include "Riverboat Shuffle,""Three Blind Mice," "Blue River," "Wringin' and Twistin'," "Krazy Kat," "Just An Hour of Love," "I'm Wonderin' Who," "Ostrich Walk."
