Live at Bourbon Street by Lenny Breau with Dave Young
Have you ever been to good ole' New Orleans, right down in the heart of the best live jazz or rhythm & blues you're ever going to hear? Well if not, let me describe the scene just for you. Picture this, a somewhat sultry smoke-filled club where the word "laid back" is written all over the faces of those boppin' their heads, relaxing, and just taking in some good music and sights around them. And believe me, there are some serious sites to be found on Bourbon Street. Although Lenny Breau's recording actually takes places in a club called "Bourbon Street" in Toronto it takes you right to that place where you too can get caught-up into the soulful rhythm as though you were really in New Orleans. Lenny Breau, a masterful player of a somewhat humanistic 7-string guitar is featured live at Bourbon Street with the very talented Dave Young playing a mean Acoustic Bass. Lenny plays each tune on this two disc set with a righteous conviction and dedication. Lenny and Dave fill each track with notes from high to low , here and there, but never getting lost in what they are doing. I particularly enjoyed the classic song "On Green Dolphin Street". Dave did a bit of his own thing on this track but always came back to the original melody. There is over two hours of great music to enjoy on this set, but just remember you're in your living room in Kansas, not in New Orleans.
