Review:

This outing documents the wonderful Belgian progressive-rock quintet’s first USA tour, recorded back in 1998.  Featuring American, Dave Kerman on drums and led by guitarist/vocalist Roger Trigaux, the group’s impacting presence is nicely caught on disc with this recently released album. 

The band’s action-packed framework is centralized upon odd-metered time signatures, scathing chord progressions and oscillating drums-bass-piano ostinatos.  In addition, Trigaux’s stark vocals and harrowing electric guitar lines cast an ominous edge, eliciting notions of a cataclysmic chain of events.  No doubt, the musicians’ thrusting attack is effectively captured here, as they drive it all home with a blitzing, yet unequivocally focused, force of energy.  There’s nothing delicate or schmaltzy about this lot as they make their points via a whirlwind approach, while maintaining an overall methodology that is unparalleled within prog-rock idioms.  (Recommended…)
