Review: Gemini Soul consists of two members, Jon O’ Bergh and Andre Marcel Ajamu Akinyele. They have been compared to such amazing artists as Sade, MeShell Ndegeocello, Prince, and George Winston. Their newest release entitled, “A Cyber Jazz Holiday” truly encapsulates the spirit of Christmas.

“Winter” a tribute to Shirley Horn is the first track on the album. Jon O’Bergh is truly talented and this is audible; from his piano playing to his keyboard expertise. “In Love With You” is an Andre Marcel Ajamu Akinyele original. The arrangement is beautiful and it undeniably feels like the love song that it is. “The Holidays Are Here” is inspired by luminary Vince Guaraldi's version of “Christmas Time Is Here” which is sure to put you in the holiday spirit. If you love the original then you will assuredly love this modernized interpretation of this timeless classic.

“Evergreen” is the fourth track which is also an Andre Marcel Ajamu Akinyele original. This track has an instantly recognizable sound reminiscent of traditional Christmas carols. “Gemini Is Coming To Town” is co-produced and arranged by Andre Marcel Ajamu Akinyele, and Jon O’ Bergh. This duo proves to be the perfect formula for a winning endeavor. “Silent Night” and “Hark! The Herald Angels Sing” are also co-produced and arranged by Akinyele and O’ Bergh. These two tracks set the tone for a traditional Christmas setting. Spending time with family and friends and enjoying the holiday season. The final track, “The Holiday Song” is inspired from Nat King Cole's version of "The Christmas Song." Akinyele sings a very genuinely heartfelt performance of this Christmas favorite.

If you are looking to add to your holiday jazz collection, then this is a must have.
