Review: The Alan Lechusza and Christopher Adler duo are definitely an eclectic band. These two virtuosos float in a patchwork of musical influences on the rate of improvisation.
From “schist” till “xenolith” your mindfulness will be connected with the music in a pure way and this pure attention is just an invocation.
The difficulty of such interpretations needs a soul quality and also a great simplicity, but even in a paradox this can appear.
Alan Lechusza, inventive performer and composer, leashes to the apex a myriad of wind instruments. His exotic compositions have been performed by virtuosos such as Leo Potts,Tany Ling, Jack Reidling…
Christopher Adler is a well educated musician (holding a Ph.D. in composition), consummate composer and creator. The edge of his mind can absorb mathematics and computer technology while another part explores Southeast Asian music. He has shared the stage with admirable avant garders George Lewis, Anthony Davis, Gustavo Aguilar and Michael Valtkovich. He has been playing in this duo format with Alan Lechusza for nearly six years.
The duo Lechusza/Adler is compacted with a refinement to outstrip any conventionality, succeeding to meld multicultural melodious invention three times over. The two bring about precipitous spirited improvisations. Leschusza’s bass clarinet is unmatchable on “orogeny.” His intonation is warm and draws an insidious dominance over pitches.
“Ordovician” is a masterpiece, both artists acting like a circus pair totally balanced, yet bordering the danger of free waters. They unite and split, always getting the harmony just right.
Mineralia leads to deep reflections: what will music be without life or vice versa? It is what the compositions of this duet do; not to cease pointing out to us something merry or sad… always bringing tears when happiness is missing…
