Review: Solstice, the sexy new CD from Slim Man delivers with original material from this exceedingly talented singer/songwriter. Slim Man’s custom bass and sultry vocals make for a potent and hypnotic combination. Add to that the beautiful Spanish guitar of guest artist Marc Antoine and you are under their spell.

Solstice features nine original songs and two covers which Slim Man, along with his very able band, express with a great deal of feeling. The cover of “If I Were A Carpenter” is nothing short of stunning. Slim Man’s sexy vocals breath new life into this classic by Tim Hardin. “Wouldn’t It Be Good,” written by Nik Kershaw is equally lovely and features a nice bass solo from Geoff Hazelrigg.

The remainder of the music on Solstice is original material, all of which captures the essence of romance with “Amore” being a perfect example of this. Slim Man, his vocals dripping with sensuality, and Antoine’s ultra hot, sexy guitar will ignite a passion in your soul. “Everytime It Rains” a stirring and passionate ballad couldn’t be more poignant if it wanted to be. A song that was written for Angela Bofill’s debut CD by Slim Man, “Summer’s Almost Gone,” is included here as it reminisces a perfect summer drawing to a close, fading into the sunset.

Some fine muted trumpet from Matt Cappy greets you on “Listen To The Wind.” Slim Man’s hot vocals make for a sexy duo with Cappy’s trumpet. Melanie Hazelrigg’s appealing backing vocals on “Face The Truth” are soft, sultry and in perfect combination with that of Slim Man.

Solstice creates the perfect backdrop for romance, as the sun sinks below the horizon with that special someone, or to just plain chill out. Slim Man delivers an emotionally charged collection of infinitely romantic compositions and sultry vocals effortlessly blending with the sensual Latin guitar of guest artist Marc Antoine.
