Featured Artist: Take 4

CD Title: Personal Miracle

Year: 2007

Record Label: TRJ Records

Style: Jazz Vocals

Review: TRJ Records presents the sweet, songbird voice of Betty Vittori and Take 4, a great line-up of talented musicians: Roberto Soggetti on keys, Sandro Masazza on bass, and Valerio Albeni on drums.

Starting off this collection of melodious and smooth-sounding jazz tunes are two originals, “About Time to Come Home,” and “By Your Side.” Vittori and Soggetti team up to produce a light and elegant sound. Bass and drums set the tone and keep the easy groove meandering along with keyboard adding depth and highlights.

The next two tracks are well-known Gershwin compositions: “I Got Rhythm” is accented by swinging Latin percussion stylings. “It’s Wonderful” also takes on a Latin feel with Vittori’s engaging and distinctive sound gently leading the band through this delightful dance.

The originals: “Like a Swallow” showcases Vittori’s voice, “Ordinary Day” is a high-energy swinger where the band and Vittori really let loose, “The Highway of Love” has an infectious, sultry style, with Vittori’s voice, graceful and enticing, the title song (Personal Miracle) captures the essence of the band’s cohesion, with a guitar version of the song appearing at the end of the disc. Roberto Tiranti on guitar gives this song an added dimension of flavor and fresh, bold perspective. This is an enjoyable disc with a good mix of traditional, unique, and original tunes.
