Review:

Many times music soundtracks do not live up to their promise. This film soundtrack is a fine example of one that does live up to its promise, and delivers! Vicky Cristina Barcelona is a gem of a recording with Spanish jazz influences.

This is an innovative soundtrack. It features the Giulia y los Tellarini band based at Barcelona, Spain, whose lead singer is Giulia Tellarini. Guitarist Juan Serrano performs the complex "Gorrion" and "Entre Olas."

Paco de Lucia performs "Entre Dos Aquas." Another fine example is the Biel Ballester Trio with their performances of "When I Was a Boy" and the melodic gem titled "Your Shining Eyes." Juan Quesada gives a memorable performance with "Asturias." Quesada is a true magician and master of his instrument on this song.

Emilio de Benito performs the guitar classic, "Granada," with much verve and style. His work is splendid. Paco de Lucia gives an outstanding and original performance on "Entre Dos Aguas."

There is much enjoyment to be found in this soundtrack, and if you like Spanish-tinged jazz with world themes, you will probably find this a CD you will be playing for a long time. Nicely done, imaginative, and innovative are three ways to describe this excellent sountrack for the move, Vicky Cristina Bareclona.
