Review: The Boys are back in town, and what a wonderful surprise to hear them since their ground-breaking debut CD, SALSA FLAMENCA (reviewed in Jazzreview in volume 111)! Young & Rollins continue to showcase their talents with original compositions and talented accompanying musicians.

Dan Young and Lawson Rollins bring the jazz audience a listening treat with their new CD collection, SEVILLA, and the 14 songs have a Latin feel that is authentic and enjoyable. Some of the unique compositions include "Cactus," "Sevilla," "Stay With Me," "Melancholy," "Spanish Sun," "Night Fall," among others.

SEVILLA entertains with its imaginative approach, and the duo guitar work of Young & Rollins is among the finest found anywhere. The haunting "Melancholy" written and performed with Dan Young accompanied by Rebecca Rakow on cello is a memorable work, worthy of much airplay time as is "Spanish Sun."

The songs and performances are so good, it is hard to pick just one or two selections. Everything works well in SEVILLA, a splendid collection.

If you liked the duo guitar sounds of Young & Rollins in their debut CD, you will fall in love with the sounds on SEVILLA. Two other selections sure to fire up the listening audience will be "Night fall" and "Carino Mio." I found everything about SEVILLA good, entertaining, and enjoyable. SEVILLA is a pleasure to listen to.
