Review: An all star lineup of Guitarists and the easy vocal style of Diane Hubka makes this recording a most delightful listening experience. Miss Hubka has the exceptional ability to articulate the lyrics clearly with no unnecessary clutter. Each word is carefully enunciated in precisely the right way.
The various Gutarists are consistent in their excellent backing of Hubka and their solos are all well constructed and most importantly a sense of swing is always present.
"Blue Moon" with its refreshing melody is given new life by virtue of the basic sense of proportion in both the harmonics and lyricism inherent in the tune. Diane Hubka explores both with skillful smoothness. The dual Guitars of Bucky Pizzarelli and Frank Vignola provide seasoning to the mix, making this old chestnut rise from the ashes of time.
The highlight of this disc is the ultra hip "You Inspire Me" Hubka skillfully endears herself to the listener with her sophisticated treatment of a not often heard tune, and she does it with a flair that is manifested in her swank and chic fashion.
An illustrious array of fine Guitaraists along with the posh vocals of Diane Hubka make this album a must for discerning jazz afficionados.
