L.A. Radio Station KKJZ 88.1 FM is in danger of having its format and management changed. For 25 years, KKJZ, formerly KLON has played jazz and blues and nothing but jazz and blues. It is an oasis in a musical desert.
Recently and due largely to the generous contributions of jazz lovers the station was able to upgrade from 6,500 watts to 30,000 watts. Now Southern California Public Radio wants the station, so they can make it into another talk and NPR station. That will mean that there is no jazz on the air in L.A. This is going to hurt every musician who works in the area.
You can help keep KKJZ 88.1 FM as a public radio station with an all jazz and blues format by going to their website www.KKJZ.org and doing what they ask by contacting various people involved in this matter by email, phone or letter.
