James Finn releases Faith in a Seed his 2nd CD

New York City tenor saxophonist James Finn has just released his second CD entitled Faith in a Seed on CIMP Records. This is the second of three CD releases by three different labels in one year. He has graced the world stage from London’s Royal Albert Hall to New York City’s Avery Fisher Hall and is endorsed by some of history’s greatest saxophonists such as Jimmy Heath and Benny Golson. James Finn is quietly becoming recognized as a virtuoso with something fresh and exciting to contribute to jazz.

Saxophone Journal’s Tim Price says, " The constant pleasure of Finn’s sax mastery left my jaw hanging... belongs on a major label with top hype and promotion." Tim Price of the Journal goes on to say, " James has unlimited imagination and you’re not going to hear simply a musician playing a saxophone. You will hear a man coming through the sound of the horn. His playing is fresh and picturesque."

Although he is well versed in many styles of music, James insists that his musicians play their "soul’s song" free of any style pretensions. What the listener receives is music that is always fresh, heartfelt and powerful. You can purchase his critically acclaimed debut CD, entitled Opening the Gates on Cadence Records at Tower and Virgin stores. Matt Sumera of One Final Note calls it "an astonishing debut."

His second CD Faith in a Seed on CIMP is now in stores. Producer Bob Rusch calls it "meaningful and profound music." It features bassist Dominic Duval (Downbeat Magazine Award recipient of "Talent Deserving Wide Recognition") and master drummer Warren Smith.

His third CD entitled Plaza de Toros includes this same ensemble and will be released in January of 2005 on Clean Feed Records. Jazz critic Frank Rubolino writes in his liner notes, " The music of three exceptional musicians merges into one harmonious outpouring of stimulating beauty."
