Of his latest CD, Shades of People (Essence Jazz 2004) , Dan Karcher of WBGO says "The trio has come together as one entity which reveals how dynamic an entity can be. Not since Keith Jarrett’s powerful rendition on Tribute have I experienced such fire in a performance such as "All The Things You Are". Tim has performed with many great jazz artists including Sam Most, Dick Berk, Elliot Zigmund, Bill Watrous, Jeff Berlin, Kim Richmond, Tom Rainey, Scott Lee, Billy Mintz etc. He has led 2 trio recordings.
The performance features mostly standards, as well as a few new originals taken from the CD. Bassist Noah Jarrett has performed with Mamadou Diabate. He has studied with Gary peacock and Cecil McBee at the New England Conservatory. Drummer Bill Goodwin has performed with Bill Evans, Dexter Gordon, Gary Burton and Phil Woods. He has produced all of Phil Woods recordings since 1980 as well as several Tom Harrell recordings. Bill was Omnisounds’ main producer of jazz product.
"Lyddon combines hands with heart and mind. The sensibility here is one of enormous breadth, encompassing the unearthly beauty of Romantic and Impressionistic Imaginations, the classic American song form, and the harmonic innovations of the post-bop era. "I’ve Traveled So Far" is a quiet gem, one that impresses more and more with each hearing." - Larry Nai (ejazznews)
"With an engaging light as a feather, block-chord touch, pianist Tim lyddon spins out original and standard compositions in the piano trio format. Even in a congested market, Lyddon makes a strong case for his rendering of the piano trio." Michael Bailey (All About Jazz)
" Taken as a whole, this music is saturated with art, dignity and good fun. You won’t be let down here, jazz is alive and well."- Stephen Koch (All About Jazz
"The pianist has a light touch that allows for a certain resonance, meaning that his lines-often little snippets of pure melody-are flecked with intrigue. - (Macnie) Village Voice
