Tony Adamo's Funky Jazz Vibe

Singer/songwriter Tony Adamo funks it up on his new radio promo CD release, UP IN IT. This is being sent to radio program directors and music reviewers. World renowned horn player and Tower of Power great, Mic Gillette, wrote the horn arrangements for the songs ‘Lolita’ and ‘Up In It.’ He also plays on ‘Lolita,’ ‘Up In It’ and "Groove Therapy.’ Adamo brought in another Tower of Power (TOP) alumni, an original member of TOP, Skip Mesquite. The pair extraordinaire of a horn section was born. What better way to funk up this horn section then to bring in horn icon and Tower of Power legend, Stephen ‘Doc’ Kupka. Doc, Skip and Mic play together on ‘Up In It’ and ‘Groove Therapy.’ Skip and Mic play together on ‘Lolita.’ ‘Hey Lou,’ features tenor giant Ernie Watts on sax, smooth jazz pianist Rodney Franklin and from Herbie Hancock and the Headhunters, jazz funk master bass player, Paul Jackson. Jackson has already picked up the cut ‘Hey Lou’ to be added to his solo CD release in 2004. Jackson is quoted as saying, ‘This song is destined to become an acid jazz funk classic.’ Roberto Quintana adds his Latin percussion magic to ‘Groove Therapy‘ and ‘Hey Lou.’

Tony Adamo and his music producer, Jerry Stucker co-wrote three out of the four tunes on this radio promo CD, UP IN IT. The tune ‘Up In It’ was written by Mark Kaye and Jerry Stucker. Adamo is distributed by Thom Teresi’s Rhombus Record label, Los Angeles, California. Adamo’s web page is: http://www.jazznow.com/Adamo/adindex.html
