The group was formed in late 2002 by way of combining a traditional jazz approach and sound, with modern Funk/ Hip-Hop beats and textures. Through extremely diverse musical backgrounds, the guys from Otis Grove have developed an extremely unique sound. With fierce organ tones, bumping bass lines, cutting guitar work and groove heavy drumming, audiences are finding themselves captivated by the Grove’s innovative musical style. Their first show in September 2002 was for a nearly sold out crowd at the House of Blues in Cambridge, MA. Since then, they have been sharing their vision with crowds at venues throughout New England. The July 13th Harper’s Ferry show will serve as a chance for the Grove to introduce their new material. They will then head into the studio in early August to record their first full length CD. Otis Grove is meticulously preparing their new material, for both its live debut in Allston, and the upcoming record. The result is an amazingly tight groove, combined with soulful melodies. The yet unheard compositions can only be known in one way, as "Otis-esq."
With years of musical training and experience Otis Grove has developed a genre uniquely their own. Bridging the gap between the jazz tradition and the cutting edge beats and texture of today, their music can only be described as "New Vintage." As they make their way throughout the North East, Otis Grove’s dedicated audiences are expanding. For the newest, most innovative sounds around, keep on Groovin’ with the Grove.
