The Litchfield Jazz Festival announces the opening of registration for its summer institutes, The Litchfield Jazz Festival Summer Music School and Greenhouse the new Litchfield Jazz Festival Summer Dance Institute at The Forman School in Litchfield, CT. The Music School, runs form July 20-August 1, and its star studded faculty includes saxophonists Don Braden, Jimmy Greene, Steve Wilson, Clair Daly, Jane Bunnett, pianists Ted Rosenthal, Dave Beckman, Xavier Davis, Dena DeRose, drummers Matt Wilson, Cecil Brooks III, trumpeters Ray Vega, Brian Lynch, Joe Magnarelli and many others.
Greenhouse will be headed up by choreographer Earl Mosley. Earl and his team of top-flight dancers will offer ballet, tap, modern, hip-hop and African dance to students of all ages from July 8 through August 1. Collectively, the faculty has past and present affiliations with The Ailey School, Ballet Hispanico, Donald Byrd, Sadlers Wells, and more. M’Bewe Escobar, the African instructor, appeared in the movie Fame. Rounding out the group is a local resident, tap instructor Kim D’Andrea. Kim’s credits include work with the Radio City Rockettes and 15 years of running her own school in Litchfield, CT. All dance students, like those of the jazz fest music school, will perform on their own stage at The Litchfield Jazz Festival.
