Hot on the heels of their recording Tribal Dance the MRC Trio -- Hugh Marsh, Barry Romberg, and Rufus Cappadocia -- National Jazz Award nominee for Best Electric Group, hit the road for their first Canadian tour which will take them from coast to coast. The MRC Trio is unique not only in its instrumentation -- violin, cello, and drums -- but also in conception as the groups focus is the art of spontaneous composition. Globe & Mail's Mark Miller describes the group's modus operandi as ". . .rather better than the process might promise, thanks to the ways in which Marsh and Cappadocia reinvent their respective instruments with bows, fingertips and electronics, and to the small furies that Romberg generates more conventionally at the drums. Interesting sounds are one thing, of course, and interesting ideas another. Fortunately, the trio has plenty of those, too."
