Planning for the Rochester International Jazz Festival 2003 is well underway. Communication is ongoing with sponsors, artists, and performance venues. "Our mission is to deliver a fantastic artist lineup and develop one of the best jazz festivals anywhere," said Festival Producer and Artistic Director John Nugent.
Due to overwhelming interest, the much coveted festival "Club Pass" will go on advance sale at all Wegmans "That’s T.H.E Ticket!" outlets in New York, Pennsylvania and New Jersey on November 24th. Or, purchase online at www.rochesterjazz.com. The Club pass will provide access to 40 shows over eight days of the festival. The advance sale price is $54 plus handling, a $6 savings off the regular price of $60, which will take effect January 15.
The Rochester International Jazz Festival celebrates the only true American art form Jazz in its many forms. The full lineup of artists for the entire festival, including club pass performances, will be announced on April 3, 2003.
"I was overjoyed with the response to our first event this past June," said Nugent. "The energy, spirit, and excitement of the festival, and the attitude towards our European style of concert programming was truly wonderful to experience. I had to bring the event back! And the incredible support from everyone made me want to deliver an even bigger event for the second edition.
The festival will kick off one amazing summer for Rochester, one that will also include the Wegmans LPGA Tournament in June, Rochester MusicFest in July and the 2003 PGA Championship in August.
The Festival’s first edition, held June 3-9, 2002, featured 50 performances, a film festival and free concerts for children, and attracted 30,000 people from 24 states and at least eight countries.
