This is the Pure Audiophile double LP version of Karrin Allyson's 2001 recording - "Ballads - Remembering John Coltrane", PA-001(2). It is still sealed (brand new) in the original factory perforated plastic and retails for $50. It is half-speed mastered by the great Stan Ricker, who 1/2 speed mastered The Beatles Collection for MFSL, and was one of the original owners of Mobile Fidelity, among countless credits. And Paul Stubblebine of Acoustic Disc and Reference Recordings fame.
It is a 2-lp set on 180 gram, pure colored (incredible translucent blue) virgin vinyl, housed in gatefold jacket and rice-paper sleeves. They are extremely limited and individually numbered. There is an eight page booklet in a sheet protector, and alot of new graphic design. We selected Karrin Allyson and "Ballads" because it is such a special recording by such a phenomenal talent. 'Ballads' received 2 Grammy nominations for this year's Grammy's; "Best Jazz Vocal Album" (Karrin Allyson) and "Best Engineered Album, Non-Classical" (Josiah Gluck, from Saturday Night Live). Did we hold are own compared to an engineering Grammy nominated recording? Be the first on your block to find out. Vinyl lovers will not be disappointed. The sound is better than any regular cd you've ever heard. It is under special license from Concord Records, and they were generous enough to lend us a bonus track, "Nature Boy", to even out the 4 sides of this incredible double album. James Williams - piano: John Patitucci-acoustic bass: Lewis Nash-drums: Three great saxophonists appear, Steve Wilson, James Carter and Bob Berg. Do not miss these incredible performances. There is an article in this month's (June/July) issue of "The Absolute Sound" by senior writer Paul Seydor about this release. There is one by David Glackin at enjoythemusic.com. Check them out!
