Born in Cuba, Romero comes from a long line of musicians who played at the Club Tropicana in Havana. Romero is a 21st century jazz composer and a pioneer of Nu Cuban. Romero has built a very tight group that can swing with funky accent, jamming clave and fusion groove. Romero performed at 2001 Montreux Jazz Festival and was a panelist on the"NY to Havana, Nonstop" seminar at the 2002 International Association of Jazz Educators "NY to Havana, Nonstop" Seminar. Romero just recieved a REMIX Composers Grant from the American Composers Forum for work at the Boys and Girls Club.

Romero’s latest cd "Cuban Jazz Funk which he produced and composed was done live in one 4 hour session. "Cuban Jazz Funk" was named CD of the Week -Boston Herald, "A Great CD" by JAZZIZ, a "Top 10 Cd of the Year" by Jazz USA and named a "Top 15 Independent Artist of the Year" by Contemporary Jazz.
