Clare Teal makes charity concert a success

Clare Teal, one of the UK's most touted jazz singers, proved her popularity by selling out a charity concert at Bath University on Saturday night. Promoters feared that the concert would not make the required amount of money to cover costs and help towards the funding of an under 12's rugby tour of Ireland.

"It was fantastic that big artists like Clare and (BBC jazz musician of the year) Alan Barnes offered their services, until they joined us we were not sure that the concert would get much of an audience. But we had no idea that the shows would sell out before the doors opened. Clare is a Bath local and all the papers got right behind the project once they heard she was going to sing."

Teal, originally from Yorkshire, has been a resident of Bath for the last six years and is often to be found supporting local events along with other notable stars such as Peter Gabriel and Van Morrison.

"I came to Bath and immediately fell in love with the place, the city and people are wonderful and if i can help in any way I'm only too happy to do so. I'm just a singer, but if that is enough to make a difference - great!"
