L.A. jazz vocalist Pinky Winters and pianist-arranger Richard Rodney Bennett's new CD, "Rain Sometimes" is number five this week on the amazon.com jazz sales chart. It places just behind John Coltrane's perennial best-seller "A Love Supreme" and Diana Krall's long-running "When I Look in Your Eyes." Part of the reason for this is the heavy jazz airplay being accorded the track from the album, "Melancholy Baby." A rave review by Rex Reed in last week's "New York Observer" also helped spike sales. …
