SHELLEY HIRSCH is a vocalist, improviser, and composer who can be heard on dozens of CDs. Since 1983, she has performed throughout the United States, Europe, Asia, Africa and Australia. Her evening-length performance works include
My Father Piece,
For Jerry, and
O Little Town of East New York. Hirsch has recorded for Tellus, Innocence, and Tzadik Records. She has won multiple fellowships from both the NEA and the New York Foundation for the Arts, and received residencies from Harvestworks, the DAAD in Berlin, and from Fire Engine 27 for a sound installation. She is the subject of two short documentaries made for German television and was the lead actress and singer in the award-winning film Wild Sound. Hirsch also received a Creative Capital grant in 2002 for interdisciplinary performance.
