Music served as the background fabric of Susan Lamont's childhood. A native New Yorker, Susan was born and raised in St. Albans, a residential urban Queens neighborhood in the shadow of JFK airport. The youngest of seven children, her household always flowed with music. Her father, an architectural draftsman, was a great lover of choral, Broadway and traditional gospel music.
