Robert Glasper’s breakout year heads into a busy autumn with the keyboardist announcing the October 9 release of Black Radio Recovered: The Remix EP. The 6-track EP, which was produced by Glasper, features remixed and previously unreleased tracks from his acclaimed album Black Radio. The remixers include Glasper himself, as well as ?uestlove, 9th Wonder, Georgia Anne Muldrow, and Pete Rock, with additional contributions from rappers Black Milk and Phonte, The Roots band, and vocalist Solange Knowles. The remixes reinvent tracks that originally featured Bilal (“Letter to Hermoine”), Erykah Badu (“Afro Blue”), Meshell Ndegeocello (“The Consequences of Jealousy”), and yasiin bey (“Black Radio”), as well as Robert Glasper Experiment’s cover of the Little Dragon song “Twice.” Also included is “Dillatude #2,” the Experiment’s tribute to the late, great hip hop producer J Dilla which is a previously unreleased track from the Black Radio sessions.

It's that time of year again ... time to enjoy yet another of the great bluesman/guitarist Buddy Guy's fine blues concerts at Toronto's Massey Hall. On 2nd lead guitar is Ric Hall, maybe better known as 'RicJaz Guitar' to some ... a favorite of this writer and others over the years ... having seen him perform onstage with Buddy Guy on several occasions indoors and outdoors throughout the years. Whatever the occasion, he always gives 110 per cent in his blues renditions whenever called upon by Buddy to solo or accompany him on high-intensity rhythm blues guitar.

The Cape Town International Jazz Festival is the most prestigious Africa gathering. The two days event (Friday 30 March and Saturday 31 March 2012) is a huge international success hosted by the Cape Town's International Convention Centre (CTICC) and features 40-acts performances. The 2012 Signature Music Series at Berklee wraps up an extraordinary season on Friday, March 30, with An Evening with Kirill Gerstein: Rhapsody in Blue. The Russian-born pianist will perform the world premiere of new works by Chick Corea and Brad Mehldau, commissioned by Gerstein as part of his 2010 Gilmore Artist Award. The jazz-inspired program also features the original 1924 jazz band version of Gershwin's "Rhapsody in Blue" with a 25-piece ensemble that includes faculty and an 8-piece student string section. Gary Burton, Anat Cohen, and Eugene Friesen are special guests. Produced by Gerstein and directed by professor Phil Wilson, "An Evening with Kirill Gerstein: Rhapsody in Blue" is being recorded for future release internationally on the Myrios Classics label.
