A new record label, Flattened Planet Records, was recently created to promote improvised and creative music. The label has three recordings which are scheduled for release over the next six months. Artists on the new label include drummer JT Bates, guitarist Joe Battaglia, bassist Adam Linz, saxophonist Michael Lewis, and guitarist Terrence McManus. A series of concerts in the New York City and Minneapolis areas will coincide with the release of each record. Minimalism will be the basis for design and packaging, in an attempt to offer a more homegrown, personal feel to the music.
