Chuck Sher deserves congratulations on putting together THE ALL-JAZZ REAL BOOK, for it is a great item to have for reference and playing, something all jazz musicians will cherish. It represents a lot of hard work and thought from one of the most innovative jazz music publishers in the businss. Any person who purchases this fine collection will be delighted with the songs. I cannot begin to list the titles because of length, but here are some samples: Johnny Carisi/Miles Davis "Springsville" Bill Evans' "The Two Lonely People" Cedar Walton's "Ojos De Rojo" Antonio Carlos Jobim's "Luiza" Peggy Stern's "Not For Nothing" Miles Davis' "I Don"t Wanna Be Kissed" "Maria Schneider's "My Lament" Herbie Hancock's "The Sorcerer" to mention just a few of the exciting tunes found in this collection. Music editor and jazz pianist Larry Dunlap gives a notes section there is a guide on how to use the book to its fullest advantage and the CD of selected tunes found in the book is a listening enjoyment. If you are looking for something that gives you handson experience and pleasure in a real bookTHE ALL-JAZZ REAL BOOK is a wonderful 544 page large spiral paperback, a genuine handson experience for those interested in jazz music and its rich variety of expressions, and it comes with a CD of selected tunes. The song content is outstanding and fascinating, and the book is an excellent collection of working material for any musician interested in the art of jazz stylings.
