This is one of Nelson Rangell's early works and reveals the performer as a master of his instrument; he plays with style, complex harmony, and a strong sense of melody line. Some of the selections include "World Traveler," "Truest Heart," "Regatta De Rio," "Sierra La Esperanza." His saxophone work is flawless and his ability to reveal the subtle depths of melody are very much in evidence on "Sierra La Esperanza." Michael Bearden appears on some selections as pianist as well as Kip Kuepper, Mark Portmann, Chuck Loeb, and Jeff Jenkins. Jeff Jenkins is the composer and solo pianist on "Sierra La Esperanza." A fine CD and introduction to Nelson Rangell.
