Herbie Hancock and Wayne Shorter are two of the venerable giants of modern jazz, and yet both have spent most of the last fifteen years in a bit of a desert, recording wise. Both managed to break this drought with their last recordings; Hancock's The New Standard, and Shorter's High Life. This album sees them renew the partnership formed in the seminal Miles Davis Quintet of the early sixties. In acoustic duo format, their empathy is immediately apparent, with their sounds and musical personalities perfectly matched.
