Suspicious by Outside

Matt Cooper and Andreas Allen make up the London based group, Outside. This album wins my vote for the year's most inventive and mind-opening release thus far. This was my first experience with the group and what an experience it was. Cooper and Allen mix so many genres of music into this release yet deliver consistent grooviness from start to finish. This release opens up with a hot ambient track, "To Fly as Fast as Thought", then dives into a meaningful funk tune, "The Blackman and The Jew" which expounds upon the similarities between the two. Next they break into a funky contemporary jazz tune, "Transmigration".

Throughout the remainder of this CD we are touched by some hip-hop gospel, heart-felt ballads and much more (This CD is like a good movie; I don't want to spoil the ending for you). This may not be your run of the mill jazz release, however it is really SOMETHING to savor. I can't wait for their next release.
