Timeless Tales (for changing times) by Joshua Redman

This is quite possibly the best jazz quartet CD I've heard in the last fifteen years (at least). The song choices, not to mention the arrangements and group interplay are fresh, inventive and overall excellent. Listen to the way the rhythm section compliments the "lyrics" on "The Times They Are A'Changin'," and you'll see the true arranging genius of Redman (and I strongly suspect Mehldau) at work.

Do yourself a favor and pick up a copy of this recording. Redman has raised the bar for all of us (musicians) on this one.
