The Melody At Night, With You by Keith Jarrett

Sure, his Koln Concert and the Trio albums are legendary, but The Melody AT Night, With You may very well be the finest recording Of Keith Jarrett's career. On this collection of love songs is dedicated to his wife, Jarrett leaves behind all the groaning that's marred so many of his efforts, and his pretentious displays. What's left are subtle, solo interpretations of standards. There is a simple feel to the album, like a man playing the piano in his living room on a sunny Sunday afternoon in the middle of winter. Yet few musicians could play with such restraint and still be so brilliant. Without question, The Melody At Night is the most mature palatable recording Jarrett has ever made.
