There is something wonderfully special in the direct manner which Rose Bonanza delivers a jazz vocal. The best way to explain it is to listen to her version of Cole Porter's "Just One of Those Things" and hear a sample for yourself.
The highlight of this CD collection is the jazz vocal interpretation of Cole Porter's classic love ballad, "You Do Something to Me." And a close runner-up is the rendition of Thomas Waller's "Ain't Misbehavin.'" The flute and saxophone work of Skip Lane is outstanding.
Rose Bonanza also shares some of her original jazz songs, and these songs and her voice make a perfect pairing. This collection is worthy to be in every jazz listener's collection. It has class, verve, style, and most of all, is entertaining and enjoyable jazz vocals at their finest.
One of the other lovely works on this CD is the Byron Janis/Geroge D. Weiss song, "Let Me," with its colorful word images. Also, Cole Porter's "You'd Be So Nice To Come Home To."
If somebody asked me for a suggestion for some good jazz listening, I would tell them about this CD. Rose Bonanza and her COME INSIDE is a winner. Excellent. Give it a listen!
