Linger Awhile by Ruby Braff

Ruby Braff was born in 1927 at Boston and developed early as a gifted player of the trumpet and cornet. A contemporary of the cool jazz and hard bop musicians of the 1950s decade, he went on to create his own, very individual and personal sound in jazz. Primarily a cornet performer in later years, he released several important recordings. His performances on this CD showcase his unique skills at creating harmonic blends, and the musicians performing with him are topnotch. Listen to the piano player, too!

If you have not heard of Ruby Braff, this CD is an excellent introduction to a jazz artist that is too often overlooked. Total playing time is 60:09 minutes. The selections include: "Sweet Sue," "Ghost of a Chance," "Wishing," "I Cover the Waterfront," "Keeping Out of Mischief Now," "Linger Awhile," "I'm in the Market For You," "Romance in the Dark," "When You Wish Upon A Star," "I Can't Get Started." Ruby Braff is one of the best!
