Hear in the Now by Ed Hamilton

A new CD from jazz guitarist Ed Hamilton with him performing many of his own selections has just been released, and it is a welcome addition to any jazz guitarist collection. Ed Hamilton is performing on electric and acoustic guitar in "Hear In The Now" CD and gives us some work on the electric bass, keyboards, and piano with special guest Warren Hill on saxophones. Dave Falciani is the main man on piano and synthesizers with Vince Fay on acoustic bass, and Pat Petrillo on drums and percussion. The selections include "Boogie Woogie," "Iowa," "Hear In The Now," "JJ's Blues," and "So High (clouds in my eyes)." 12 selections of enjoyable jazz music.

A fine outing which reveals the indepth sensitivity of Ed Hamilton as both performer and composer. Dave Falciani gives us great piano interpretations, and his touch of stride is perfect -- a wonderful pianist heard here at his best! For Ed Hamilton fans, and newcomers to his guitar, this is a well-crafted CD filled with memorable flights of jazz genius at its best. For pure versatility, listen to the beauty Ed Hamilton shares with the listeners as performer on both piano and guitar in the selection, "When We Last Spoke," a mellow and gentle song that deserves airplay on jazz radio stations! A very, very nice jazz CD.
