This CD showcases a living legend among seven-string acoustic guitar players, Bucky Pizzarelli. There are 20 selections on this cd, and each one is a winner! Jazz fans will find much enjoyable music here, and for those wanting to listen and learn techniques, Pizzarelli performs at his most brilliant. Some of Pizzarelli's compositions are included, and he performs one of the best renditions of Jerome Kern's "Smoke Gets in Your Eyes" to come along in recent years on the guitar! Duke Ellington's "Come Sunday" and Eddie Lang's "April Kisses" are among the other standouts in this excellent cd. One of the best songs was Django Reinhardt's "Tears," and it is a selection you will enjoy listening to several times.
Nobody does it better! Congratulations, Bucky Pizzarelli! Note: The CD booklet is written by Pizzarelli and he comments on why he performed these selections. T. J. McGann gives a short essay on the 100th anniverary of the plectrum guitar. An essay on John Bucky Pizzarelli is given by guitarist Michele Ariodante. Excellent cd.
