Beauty and the Bloodsucker by Eugene Chadbourne

This strange CD deals with themes of butterflies, and there are 15 pieces recorded and spliced together by Dr. Eugene Chadbourne! Many of these unusual jazz tracks seque directly into each other. This CD is an unusual listening experience, and in addition to Chadbourne's fine work on both acoustic and electric guitar, as well as on dobro and the 5-string banjo, other artists include Lyn Johnston on contrabass clarinet, Rob Mallard on tenor saxophone, Carla Kihlstedt on violin, among others. The song titles speak for themselves: "Nymphialiadae," "Mexican Yellow," "Paris Swallowtail," "Papilonidae," and the total playing time is 68:35 minutes. An interesting journey!
