Nightshift by Gregg Karukas

NIGHTSHIFT will be a welcome surprise for jazz listeners who have not heard the compositions and piano stylings of Gregg Karukas. This 11 selection CD is contemporary jazz piano at its best, and very enjoyable.

Walt Fowler puts in a nice trumpet solo on "Small World" and also on a wonderful song titled "Speakeasy," which is bound to find its way onto radio airplay! The many guest musicians are each topnotch on NIGHTSHIFT.

Other selections include "Chasing the Wind," the intricate "Nightshift," "Silent Promise," "Club Hopping," "Time Could Pass," "My Favorite Season," "Rocky Peak," "Stevie (Wonderful)," "Captive Hearts (for Yvonne)" Nice collection! Every one of these compositions are enjoyable and well-crafted.

If you are looking for something different and lyrical, give a listen to the piano gifts of Gregg Karukas. "Speakeasy," "Nightshift," and "Small World" make for memorable listening experiences as does the entire collection. Solos are excellent. NIGHTSHIFT and its creator, jazz pianist Greg Karukas, are a winning combination!
