Writes of Passage by Sheila E. and the E Train

Sheila Escovedo is a powerhouse of a new talent on the contemporary jazz scene, and her new CD release, SHEILA E. AND THE E TRAIN is sure to introduce her to new jazz listeners unaware of her gifts as a creative drummer/percussionist and vocalist. Give a close listen to her on "Passing Through" which she co-composed and enjoy her unique drum techniques!

The CD has 11 selections. "Paragon," "Rituals," "Passing Through," "Writes of Passage," each shine through with a special jazz magic that picks up the listeners and takes them along for a sweet jazzy ride with different jazz motifs! Marc Van Wageningen composed the 4:40 minute "Virtuosity" and this one will be sure to capture the interest of jazz bass fans!

As good as this collection is, it is only the beginning to what looks like a highly promising jazz music career for Sheila Escovedo, and her group. SHEILA E. AND THE E TRAIN is worthy of some good solid airplay time, and each song is well-crafted and well-performed. The solo work is excellent. Congratulations, Sheila Escovedo, you have a winner on your hands! Keep up the excellent jazz work, each of you! Very nice collection! This CD would make a great gift for a friend!
