Bridge Over The X-Stream by Steve Cohn

For those who enjoy the piano music of Steve Cohn, his new "Bridge Over The X-Stream," features original compositions by Steve Cohn and some refreshingly original sounds! Cohn also plays the shakuhachi, hichiriki, shofar, and percussion. He is joined by fellow musicians Reggie Workman who performs bass and percussion, Jason Hwang who performs violin, and Tom Varner who performs French horn.

Listeners will find their own favorites on this CD as each selection is as unique and interesting as composer Steve Cohn is as a performer! There is a hint of irony and humor in these songs, such as "Don't Sit down if You Can't Stand up," and "Give Me the Bowl of Oatmeal."

Total playing time for these 6 selections is 60:41 minutes. The listener will also discover some interesting thoughts on the composer's perspective towards creativity and infinite tonality in the 8 page booklet which comes with the CD. One of the most interesting compositions and performances on this CD is "Mommy, Daddy Took the Cake Out," which runs 12:37 minutes. An unusual jazz experience from composer Steve Cohn, full of surprises!
