Jazz Bunker by Han Bennink Eugene Chadbourne Toshinori Kondo

This 2-CD set was made from a recorded live performance at the Jazz Bunker in Rotterdam, Holland during February 1980. It is a strange series of performances with even stranger jazz soundings, and I would define this creative output from an old art expression word," Surrealism."

Surrealism jazz, wherein anything goes in sounds and composition and harmonic construction of tonal notations. Sometimes the performers scream or do short vocalizations to accompany the music!

An unusual work with no titles to tell the listeners what they are listening to, there are a wide range of sound effects to work through. Toshinori Kondo shines on his trumpet as does Han Bennink on piano and saxophone and Eugene Chadbourne on guitar in this collection of strange free-wheeling jazz sounds. For its highly personal style of musical representation, it is its own model of perfection!
