Wynton Marsalis is agile gracefulness personified when it comes to trumpet music, and his masterly sound is almost beyond definition! His sound is self-defining, a magic all to itself and special, making him one of the greatest contemporary trumpet players. THE MARCIAC SUITE showcases the composing and playing brilliance of this remarkable musician, and deserves to be in every home and library jazz collection.

THE MARCIAC SUITE consists of 13 selections. Marciac is a small French village in rural southwestern France where a jazz festival is held yearly, and this suite is dedicated to this town.

The jazz listener will discover the suite for its unique tone, different motifs, and intricate approaches. So much beauty of jazz expression in each selection! One particular song to hold the listener spellbound is the hauntingly lovely "Guy Lafitte." Noteworthy selections include "Marciac Moon," "In the House of Laberriere," "Sunflowers," "The Big Top," among others in this enjoyable CD.
