Romance on Film, Romance on Broadway by Michael Feinstein

Michael Feinstein's 2-CD release, ROMANCE ON FILM, ROMANCE ON BROADWAY, is a magnificent collection of American standards sung in moving jazz vocals as only Michael Feinstein can sing them! This is without doubt Michael Feinstein's finest work to date.

For those unaware of Michael Feinstein's talents as vocalist and pianist, this is the best possible introduction to the man's jazz vocals you could ask for! Feinstein delivers perfectly each selection.

There are 22 songs, each personally selected by Michael Feinstein covering the decades from the 1920s to the 1980s. This is romantic jazz vocals at its best, and here is a sampling of the songs found on this great 2-CD collection: one of the best renditions of "All The Way" ever recorded, equaling the Sinatra version in sensitivity and depth; a loving performance of the classic standard, "My Funny Valentine," featuring the accompanying talents of Alan Broadbent on piano, Gary Foster on flute, and Chuck Berghofer on bass; Johnny Mercer's "Something's Gotta Give," featuring the accompanying talents of Page Cavanaugh on piano, George Rabbai on trumpet, and Mark Vinci on clarinet; Dorothy Fields/Jerome Kern's "The Way You Look Tonight," featuring the memorable piano accompaniment of Marian McPartland on piano, with Jay Leonhart on bass and Joe Cocuzzo on drums. Other songs such as "If This Isn't Love," "Always," "They Say It's Wonderful," "As Long As She Needs Me," "As Time Goes By," among others, round out this excellent collection.

If Michael Feinstein continues in the mood and original style seen in ROMANCE ON FILM, ROMANCE ON BROADWAY, he will have established himself securely as one of contemporary jazz's most romantic singers. This fine CD will probably come up on many Christmas lists and gift lists this year! A very beautiful, jazzy, romantic collection of songs, this 2-CD set will find many listeners. The CD notes accompanying the set were written by Michael Feinstein and are very insightful of the songs.

ROMANCE ON FILM, ROMANCE ON BROADWAY is Michael Feinstein at his best, every vocal superb, every performance excellent. Don't miss out on this collection! Excellent! For those of you who like romantic jazz vocals, it doesn't come any better than this one!!!!
