Chicago violinist and composer Diane Delin graces the hearts of her fanbase with an 11-track album, "The Talking Stick."
The "talking stick" is referred to the violin bow. Delin plays in a variety of settings--from a duo with piano to a company of a large string section, which comes to play in "I Can't Get Started."
Delin gives her guest musicians the opportunity to showcase their talents. In "Reflections," she allows Dennis Luxion to have full reign on the piano, as he delivers a cluster of notes and runs based on singular improvisational ideas. Delin enhances old tunes and shapes new ones with simple musicality.
