BOBBY SHEW-GARY FOSTER AND FRIENDS PLAY THE MUSIC OF REED KOTLER is a splendid 2CD set of classic/straight ahead jazz that will entertain large audiences anywhere. There are 11 songs on disc 1 and 10 songs on disc 2.

Bobby Shew plays an incredibly smooth, mellow trumpet with intricate phrasing as evidenced on "Take Me With You" and "Tears for Evans," among many others. Jazz pianist Bill Cunliffe is in topform on "Beautiful Evening," and his solo work on each song is full, vibrant, and brilliant. Each musician gives fine performances that linger in the mind long after the music has stopped.

Every song on this classic CD set is a memorable performance. Some of the songs include "Night to Remember," "Jenny," "You are the One," "Blues for Kenny B," "Coop," "Tuesday Blues," "Too Soon," among others. "Tuesday Blues" is a nice 6:55 minute song, full of verve, style, and fascinating jazz motifs.

Buy this 2CD set and settle back for an enjoyable and entertaining jazz listening experience. Flawless production values. Highly recommended for those who enjoy straight ahead/classic jazz music, and performances. This is an ideal introduction to the jazz compositions of composer Reed Kotler. This is a first rate listening experience. Great solo work.
