Whoever and whatever Thievery Corporation is, it did a wonderful job of compiling some of the classic tracks from the Verve hi-fi days. If you like Brazilian and Latin music, this will be one you need for your collection.
I listened to this compilation four times and found something new to enjoy each time. There are 15 songs on this CD.
Here are some of the selections: Stan Getz and Luiz Bonfa doing "Menina Flor," Jimmy Smith and Wes Montgomery doing "OGD (Road Song)," Kenyon Hopkins doing "Hard Latin," a most unusual and memorable rendition of "Light My Fire" sung by Astrud Gilberto, Elis Regina doing "Bala Com Bala," the all-time perfect bossa nova organ version by Walter Wanderley (whatever became of this great jazz organist?) of "Batucada," "Lisa" by Willie Bobo, "Escapade" by The Wynton Kelly Trio, among others. Some great sounds on this compilation.
Congratulations to the Thievery Corporation for putting this compilation together. A very nice listening experience.
