New Beginning by Harvie S & Eye Contact

Harvie S & eye contact give the listening audience some exciting and creative contemporary jazz in their new CD titled NEW BEGINNING. There are a total of 9 selections, each one long and fully realized as an entertaining jazz entry.

Harvie Swartz has been a mainstay in contemporary bass jazz music for a long while, and it is always good to see what new material he shares with each new release. Gifted pianist Daniel Kelly is always a delight, and his solo work on this collection is outstanding. Gregor Huebner gets in some inventive solo work on his violin, and guest artist Ray Vega does some fine trumpet work on "Luna Romantica."

Selections include: "New Beginning," "En La Batalla," "Chump Change," "Luna Romantica," the intricate "African Heartbeat," "A Bright Moment," the innovative "From The Ashes" which features guest artist Michael Brecker on tenor saxophone and Ray Vega on trumpet, "Tres Mundos," and "Mothership." I keep coming back to that intimate jazz mood piece titled "Luna Romantica," and feel it is one of the really nice jazz pieces to come along in recent memory. Ray Vega gives an outstanding performance with his trumpet on "Luna Romantica" which audiences will find enjoyable!

Each song is a winner. The audience will discover some unusual and involved harmony at work in the song, "From The Ashes."

NEW BEGINNING is worth your time. Each musician in this collection is topnotch and performs in excellent form. The sounds on this CD are memorable, and enjoyable listening.
