Do you like the old-time blues? Then you will be delighted with this great compilation for Document Records by Paul Swinton. This is a collection of 23 classic blues songs sung by three pioneers in the genre.

The first 14 songs feature the great bluesman, Robert Petway. Petway sings his memorable "Catfish Blues," and such blues classics as "Ride Em On Down," "Rockin Chair Blues," "My Little Girl," "Boogie Woogie Woman," "In The Evening," "My Baby Left Me," among others. If this is your first introduction to Robert Petway, this is the perfect collection!

Mississippi Matilda is hard to locate in any music collection, and here are three of her finest: "A & V Blues," "Hard Working Woman," and "Happy Home Blues." This woman could sing the blues with candor and emotion. This is the blues as only Mississippi Matilda can sing it!

Sonny Boy Nelson gives classic performances of "Long Tall Woman," "Lovin Blues," "Street Walkin," among others. His vocals on "Long Tall Woman" and "If You Don t Believe I m Leaving Baby" will hold your attention from beginning to end with their intensity of emotion.
